George Quay is responsible for the oversight of the operating company, corporate goals and overall strategic plan for Weller. Prior to forming Weller, George was President and COO of Village Green, a leading multifamily company based in Detroit, MI. George held this position for twelve years, growing the company from 23,000 units to 38,000 units, increasing net income over 20% on a compounded annual basis, and earning him Executive of the Year in 2003 by Multifamily Executive Magazine, the industry’s leading journal. George started with Village Green when he founded Village Suites in 1990, a corporate housing company, which he grew to 1,300 units and 5 offices. Village Suites was sold to Globe Business Resources in 1998 requiring George to depart from Village Green. Upon expiration of his contract, George returned to Village Green in 2000 and founded Leading Furnished Suites, another corporate housing company, before taking the roll as President and COO. George is a member of the National Multi Housing Council’s Board of Directors and currently resides in St. Petersburg Fl.
Joe Emerson oversees all acquisition, underwriting and execution responsibilities including contract negotiation, due diligence, financing, and closing activities. Prior to joining Weller, Joe was a Senior Director for Greystar Real Estate Partners, a private real estate investment firm and largest 3rd party apartment management company in the United States with over 200,000 units under management. Joe oversaw all multifamily activity for the Southeast U.S. including the acquisition of over 12,000 units with total capitalization of $2Bn in the last 2 years. Previously, Mr. Emerson was Senior Vice President for The Picerne Group (TPG), a private real estate investment bank based in San Juan Capistrano, CA. Joe formed TPG Multifamily in April 2009 to take advantage of the real estate environment buying non-performing loans, distressed multifamily properties, and land acquiring $400M in debt totaling 3,000 units. Prior to TPG, Mr. Emerson spent 9 years with Fairfield Residential, a national multifamily developer, owner and operator headquartered in San Diego, CA. Mr. Emerson started his multifamily career with Fairfield and was eventually promoted as a company officer, overseeing activities in California. While at Fairfield, Mr. Emerson was directly involved with the acquisition, development, entitlement, construction, financing, and sale of over 10,000 units representing $3Bn in multifamily apartment homes. Mr. Emerson is a graduate of the University of Southern California, is a LEED Accredited Professional with U.S. Green Building Council, and one of the founding members of ULI’s National Young Leaders Group. He currently resides in St Petersburg Fl.
